Natural photonic crystals

Two SEM (scanning electron microscope) images recorded in Santiago has been used by the science supplement of the newspaper Heraldo to illustrate de fascinating world of natural photonic crystals. The images refer to butterfly wings magnification and were shown at the scientific image contest FOTCIENCIA. Let's go and have a look!
