Functional Materials and Nanotechnology Group
Overview
The Functional Materials and Nanotechnology Group is involved in research and teaching in several areas of material science and technology, organic chemistry and macromolecular chemistry, with a special attention on the fabrication of nanomaterials mainly by means of a self-assembly bottom-up approximation but also trying to force the limits of top-down strategies.
We are focusing broadly on different aspects ranging from the self-assembling of different “building units” such as dendrimers, block copolymers and metal nanoparticles to the study of basic aspects of organic synthesis and polymer preparation, through a more general interest for their potential use for specific application.
Actually we are dedicated to the realization of such vision through the studies focusing on:
Our research activities are actually funded by the following projects:
-
Recovery of scarce and valuable Metals from e-Waste by means of tailor-made adsorbent materials - Generación de Conocimiento 2021 - Proyectos de investigación no orientada. AEI. Main researcher: M. Lazzari, J. González-Álvarez.
-
Axudas para a consolidación e estruturación de unidades de investigación competitivas (2024 GRC GI-2170 - Materia Condensada & Materiais Funcionais). Members of the research unit: M. Lazzari, N. Tiwari.
-
Spanish Network Ciencia y Tecnología para la Conservación del Patrimonio cultural (Science & Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage - TechnoHeritage) by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Educación - Redes de Investigación RED2022-134092-T. National coordinator: M. Lazzari;
-
Novel electroactive polymeric materials for dielectric elastomers actuators and soft robots (EPOMA DESO) (European Commission – Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Researchers: N. Tiwari (fellow), M. Lazzari.
